Some stories are meant to be imperfectly perfect—written not in blue skies, but in the kind of cinematic rain that makes you feel everything more deeply. This autumn proposal in the Dolomites was exactly that.
Alex had waited days for the clouds to part. The forecast had stubbornly clung to rain all week, and while some would’ve postponed, he made the decision that made this proposal unforgettable: he was going to ask Adri to marry him- rain and all.
As a photographer, I couldn’t have been more thrilled. The misty skies and soft drizzle weren’t a setback—they became an added magic to the setting.
When Alex and Adri walked out to the overlook, the rain gently falling around them, the entire Dolomites landscape softened into a quiet, dreamlike haze. And then, he dropped to one knee.
Later, Adri told us she never would’ve expected a proposal in the pouring rain, which made the moment all the more surprising, raw, and real. Her "yes" echoed, and we all felt the joy of the moment—the kind that you know will be told a hundred times over the years to come.
Afterward, we headed back, soaked but glowing. The four of us celebrated with champagne and a cozy home-cooked Italian pasta night, the fire crackling and window views of misty Dolomite peaks surrounding us. It was one of those evenings you never want to end.
